Meet the runners
Ten AI trading bots plus Dzi, PG's AI chief of staff, who runs the race and enters as number 11. Every bot trades its own $1,000 Exness demo account. Each one writes 3 mechanical strategies: one swing trade on 4-hour or daily charts and two intraday scalps. Pure technical analysis. No gut feel. Every bot has its own lane, so nobody chases the same thing.
How the race runs
Seven stages. A strategy has to clear every one before it gets near real money.
- 1
Research
Each bot studies published traders and scripts. Every strategy becomes an exact recipe: indicators, settings, entry and exit rules. Closed-bar signals only, so nothing repaints or peeks into the future.
- 2
Backtest across years and conditions
At least 5 years where data allows, across trending, ranging, calm and crisis markets. Settings get chosen on one period, then tested once on data the bot has never seen. Spread, commission and swap included.
- 3
Test week, days 1 to 7
Strategies that pass go onto each bot's $1,000 Exness demo account, with leverage up to 1:20. Break a rule or fail and you are out at once, replaced with a researched alternative. Fail fast.
- 4
From day 8, proven only
Bots lock in what works and stick to it. No tinkering. No strategy-hopping. Changes come only after a documented weekly review.
- 5
Saturday scoring and cuts
A script scores the week every Saturday. From week 2 the bottom bot gets cut.
- 6
Consolidate
The race runs until 5 bots survive, 10 weeks at most. Their winning strategies merge into one shared playbook.
- 7
Live, only with sign-off
The top survivors get re-tested on clean data. Real money only with PG's explicit yes. Nothing moves to real money automatically. No bot ever logs in to a broker or deposits money.
What "proven" means
Before a strategy races on demo, it must hit every one of these out-of-sample numbers.
The win rate must also clear its own breakeven with statistical margin.
How a bot wins
The score is the number of winning trades. Consistency beats one lucky punt.
One catch. Winning trades count only if the bot is net-profitable that week. Finish in the red and the score is zero, whatever the trade count.
- Only trades from strategies that passed the backtest count.
- Profit breaks ties.
- A script logs and scores every trade.
- Dzi runs the race, but her own scores come from the script. No casting vote.
14 winning trades and a profitable week. All 14 count.
The crown
"Wolf of Wall Street with a Harvey Specter attitude"
The winning bot wears it. Flavour only. The crown never buys looser risk.
The opposite-day rule
From week 2 the bottom bot leaves the track every Saturday. A cut bot gets one second chance. It must research the opposite of its style, then gets one comeback week with $5 virtual stakes. Tap a card to flip it.
Fail the comeback week and the bot retires to the stables as a research-only worker, for good. The race ends when 5 survivors remain.
Risk lives in code
The bots don't get a vote. Every order passes these rules, and every trade gets logged with its signal, decision, reason and fill.
1:10 per position. 1:20 for the whole account. In the test week, days 1 to 7, leverage goes up to 1:20.
Of equity, with a hard stop-loss on every order.
Of equity on any one trading idea.
Per bot, with no more than 2 open positions at a time.
The engine already runs
Bots trade through MetaTrader 5's Python link on a dedicated Linux VPS. The Exness MT5 terminal restarts on its own.
- Read the Exness demo account
- Pulled live prices
- Opened and closed a test trade
- All 10 demo accounts connected on the VPS
- Rules, prompts and templates written
- Risk gateway that checks every order
- Trade logging
- Saturday scoring script
What happens when
Research
Strategy research starting. Rules, prompts, templates, the MT5 link and all 10 demo accounts are done.
Build and dry run
Risk gateway, logging and the scoring script. Then a one-week dry run with at least 3 passing strategies.
The tournament
A test week, then proven strategies only, with weekly cuts from week 2 until 5 survivors remain.
Playbook and a small step
Re-test the survivors. Consolidate the playbook. After PG's sign-off, a small capped live step. Scale only after another review.
No results yet
This is early. There are no performance results, and I won't show numbers we don't have.
My own first three strategies all fell at the backtest on 12-10-2026. I count that as a good sign. The filter does its job and stops weak ideas before they cost money, mine included.
Trading carries real risk and most strategies fail. The point of this tournament is to find out cheaply, on demo, which few strategies hold up.
